Director: Michael Young

URBAN STUDIO I: SOUND OF RIO
Director: Diana Agrest
Inspired by a continuous study about a short film Chungkiing Express directed by Kar-wai Wong, I tried to experience Rio de Janeiro in a way under the sense of hearing. To represent Rio's world-famed festival, a new recording of sound was included to better express its unique sensation.
SEMINAR WORK: CUBE MATRIX

COMPETITION DESIGN: PROPHET'S ROCK
Partner: Yuanyi ZHOU
3rd Award, UIA-HYP Cup 2016
The theme of this competition is "Concept and Notation", which provided us with an unprecedented opportunity to leave the usual architectural keywords and the realize concepts and inclinations. How to transform the "concept", which is on the contrary of "built construction", is what we are about to discuss. The result of the design, rather than a constructed site or visual experience, is an architectural-ized concept, as well as a visualized notation.
URBAN STUDIO II: MANHATTAN IN NEAR FUTURE
Director: Michael Young
Course Objectives: The studio will ask each student to choose an issue related to the built environment of Manhattan that is currently in crisis today. The task then is to document the state and impact of these issues over a 20 year period from 2037 to 2057. The future is now past. All forms of media are available for these speculations. The studio is not looking for solutions to these crisis as understood in 2017. The studio is asking how the architecture, landscape, infrastructure of a future New York will look, how it will perform, how it will adjust and be adjusted by the chosen issues.
